DNA Art Forms was created in 2003 by Catherine Dapra and Paul Zawierka. Together they embarked on a social study to compare and contrast the similarities and differences of the most unique regions found in human DNA. Working directly with clients, their goal is to explore the personal preferences clients identify themselves with, and together, develop artwork that is emotionally and genetically reflective of each subject.

Catherine and Paul have worked with clients around the world and developed artwork for individuals, couples, families, charities and corporations. The most unique regions of human DNA are simply tested by a cheek cell swab. The information provided from the quick, painless test serves as the subject matter in each art form. The client's DNA results are then woven into their art as either the traditional, laboratory results which appear in gel electrophoresis or are recreated as artistic, representational markers. All lab results and artists sketches and notes are returned with the final piece.

Catherine is a classically trained portrait artist who has studied at Hollins University and the School of Visual Arts. Catherine primarily works in oils, but also creates unique etchings.
